Frequently Asked Questions

Q: I received a traffic ticket/violation/citation. What should I do now?

A: Under Florida Statutes, you have 30 days from the date of the incident to pay and notify the court in the county in which you received the violation if you intend to take the course or not. In addition to the yellow citation, you may have received additional information regarding your options (such as a pamphlet or brochure). If you are unsure how to pay the citation, call the Clerk of Courts in the county in which you received the violation and they will explain how to pay and elect traffic school.

Q: Why should I take traffic school?

A: In Florida, traffic school prevents points from being assessed on your driving record. This is in most cases - general traffic/moving violation, non-DUI offenses, and first-time offenders. Repeat offenders, criminal violations and DUI offenses typically do not apply. The addition of points to your license can cause your insurance to increase. Contact your insurance provider for info regarding premium increases due to traffic violations.

Q: I have received my certificate of completion. What do I do now?

A: First, we recommend making a copy for your records. This can be useful in the future. The original should be mailed/faxed or personally handed in to the Clerk of Courts in the county in which you received your ticket before your due date. Check with the county if they receive faxed copies as some do not accept anything but the original. You should call back in a few weeks to see if the paper was processed correctly. Many times, mistakes happen due to human error or other circumstances. You want to be sure your situation was handled correctly.

Q: I received a traffic ticket/violation/citation in another state? What do I do now?

A: Not every state handles traffic tickets/citations/violations the way Florida does. You should call the county in the state in which you received your ticket ask exactly how they process the situation.

Q: Why should I take the class online?

A: Although attending a live class is beneficial, taking the course online is just as useful. The online course allows you to log on and log off as you wish making it easier to work around your busy schedule. You can also enjoy the benefit of completing the course from the comfort of your own home or office as opposed to driving somewhere to attend.
